These spectacular and rare champagne/sherbet goblets are by saint louis crystal. Made of fine cut crystal and a gold-encrusted “thistle” pattern. These goblets feature a vertical optic bowl, etched with delicate patterns, cut prisms at the bottom of the bowl, and the stem is faceted with cut notches on the edges, which catches the light brilliantly. The “thistle” pattern is gold encrusted and border the rim and base of the goblet which have a narrow gold band on the outside, thistle design, and then a very narrow gold band forming an inner circle. The thistle was the original inspiration behind this service when it was created for the nancy exhibition in 1908 at the height of the art nouveau movement. Later,’entente cordiale oblige’, chardon (‘thistle’) was anglicized, becoming thistle, and sparkled nobly on the greatest tables. The goblet stands 5″ tall, rim is 3.75″ wide, base 3 and holds 6.3 fluid ounces. No cracks or chips. Price is for one goblet. “New” price starting at $400.00 to $570.00. This item is made of glass.
